With Parkway Drive unveiling they will be holding their Black tie event HOME, complete with full symphonic orchestra, at the Sydney Opera House on June 9th, we thought we would compile a list of our top Parkway songs to get you in the mood, ready to fight over tickets and fly over to Australia for what promises to be an incredible spectacle from the Hardcore legends. (List by Frank Iszard)
15. The Slow Surrender - (Atlas 2012)
The menacing tones of this get completed by a near-sexual breakdown, chanting, guitar solo and double bass finish. What's not to like?
14. Wild Eyes - (Atlas 2012)
Who can deny this intro? It's one of the most EPIC ever written. Also, VIVA THE UNDERDOGS. This song's got it all.
13. Vice Grip - (Ire 2015)
A must-have for any top Parkway Drive playlist. Is it possible for a Hardcore band to make upbeat, feel-good music? This song says yes it is. A personal favourite.
12. Home Is For The Heartless - (Deep Blue 2010)
If this song doesn't pull you in, are you even alive!? Musically a tip of the hat to the previous Parkway, but with the refinement of Deep Blue. (B-E-A-UTIFUL artwork on this album.)
11. Carrion - (Horizons 2007)
A true Hardcore icon. One that will get anyone moving. A favourite of any Parkway fan.
10. Crushed - (Ire 2015)
Into the top 10 and straight away we get CRUSHED BY THE FISTS OF GOD!!
The power and awe of this song is unmatchable by anything else.
9. Karma - (Deep Blue 2010)
Ben's drums to start and the driving beat throughout this, make it an absolute powerhouse of a song.
8. Dark Days - (Atlas 2012)
The harrowing bells and apocalyptic lyrics truly make you feel like the end is nigh.
Completed by a stampede of a breakdown. (A pale horse reference for you Parkway connoisseurs out there)
7. Cemetery Bloom - (Reverence 2018)
Instrumentally one of the best build-up songs ever. From the chants to the drums pounding like a medieval war is taking place. Epic.
6. Chronos - (Reverence 2018)
This has all the best aspects of Parkway. Insane guitar work, a blend of complete power and beauty all in one song. *chefs kiss*
5. It's So Hard To Speak Without A Tongue - (Killing With A Smile 2006)
Pure mid-2000's. Love the music of that era? This one's for you. Party like you're back in your teenage years. (Then have a little sit down, your back probably hurts)
4. Idols And Anchors - (Horizons 2007)
Melodic cutting guitars, a driving beat and growling vocals and a feedback fadeout. A staple top 5.
3. Deliver Me - (Deep Blue 2010)
The power from the intro hits you like a freight train, giving way to pure melodies only to turn around and hit you full-on to finish.
2. Absolute Power - (Reverence 2018)
Top-tier Parkway. An amalgamation of everything in their arsenal coming together to create this masterpiece.
1. Dedicated - Ire 2015
This song may not necessarily be the obvious choice for the top spot, But if you ever need a song that inspires you to get going. This is it, and that for me is what makes Parkway inspirational.
There are so many more insanely good songs from the Aussie icons. Make sure to check them out and see if you agree with this list. If not, let us know what we missed!
